I'd like to be able to use vidcast (https://dabble.me/cast) to
stream movies from easynews to my chromecast device, but
I'm unable to do so because the resources are protected and
vidcast can't authenticate. It would be nice if the easynews
global search results allowed for a special unprotected link that
would expire after a few hours or after a session expired. Any
chance of implementing something for this? I'd be surprised if I
was the only easynews user wanting to do this. This could be a
great selling point for easynews, I would think.

I can run it by our admins, but that gets really scary, because if that
link gets out to multiple people during that active window of time, you
could potentially lose a lot of gigs. Just saying...it opens your
account's gig balance to the world.

Yeah, I understand there are some issues with this feature that need to be
addressed, but I just wanted to put my suggestion in the suggestion box. I
don't know what type of session handling is available within the current
easynews environment, but perhaps allowing only one IP address per
session would be a decent start. Thank you for the response Espada.

No more so than sharing a password, although admittedly people usually
don't think of sharing URLs as dangerous.

Personally I'd use this for downloading files to mobile devices
directly, a process which is currently more complicated since browser
are often not ideal choices for downloading large files, or for directly
streaming.
